Couch crafting continues

 Good morning ladies,

I had some ya n leftover from my first afghan so I made another.  This is a small stroller/car seat Afghan for one of my colleagues and his wife.  They’re transplants from Ontario and not getting to see their family this holiday or when the baby comes is hard on them.  Maybe a little blanket will cheer them up a bit. Christmas Break - day ??

As this break from school continues, so does my productivity. But first, breakfast choices - are there any hard rules?!?!?! Not in my world. I’ve had a week of butter tarts for breakfast! Best way to make sure your stretchy pants are testing their limits!! Anyways, back to my productivity. Yesterday I delivered all the gifts out to Carnduff and Redvers. It was a good day for traveling, you know, -30C with the windchill!!

My sister in law asked me to make a sign for her. These are the pictures she gave me for a guide:

It took me a long time to come up with a good design. I know the couple she is giving it to and wanted it to be right. After so deliberation, this is what I came up with:

I wrapped a rope light around it. But in my rush to get out of the house, I didn’t get a picture.

Today’s started off with me standing in front of a kiosk at Walmart printing off pictures. I loaded all the pictures twice. The first time I checked out without selecting all the pictures. Two hours later I headed home. We put together a photo album of pictures for Mr Me’s parents and sister. It’s a little embarrassing because they are all pictures of the dogs. I admit, we are those people.

Happy Christmas Eve!
I can’t wait to look up tonight in hopes of see a little sleigh and eight tiny reindeer!!

Scrubby dishcloth

 Good morning ladies,

I spent way to long yesterday learning how to make this scrubby dishcloth from https://caliandcleveland.com/blogs/news/super-scrubby-dish-cloth. . It’s one of those ones where once you get the rhythm is quite easy but it took a little bit to get it figured out. Are you snowed in down there Me?

Christmas Break - Day 3

It’s day 3, right?!?! I’ve already lost track of what day it is and I think I’ve watched every Hallmark Christmas movie there is!! I did manage to finish up my gnome quilt.

I did some straight line quilting through the tree blocks and the border around the gnome.

Not that you can tell but I did stitch in the ditch for the beard.

Do you think I should add more quilting to the tree blocks?? More lines??

I found cute sheets at Walmart for the back. I actually washed them last night because I’m scared the red might run. The sheets are so stiff. I have no idea how people could ever sleep on them. They might soften with use, I hope!! If they don’t, it doesn’t really matter because they are cute!

Tomorrow I’m suppose to be heading to Regina to take the Mini in for a oil change but Mother Nature has a different plan in mind. Regina is suppose to be getting a bunch of rain and snow overnight and into tomorrow so I’m staying home. Such an adult decision. I’m going to finish up a few projects tomorrow, wrap gifts, and .... who knows what! I’m probably just going to be lazy.

Hope you both are doing well

Baby gift on it’s way

 Good afternoon ladies,

After crocheting like a crazy lady I finished the afghan for our future niece.  It’s supposed to be a basket weave but it’s to fluffy to see the pattern that well. It’s simple and minimalist, like Jess. Mr. Her has taken it to the post so it will be in B.C. for our virtual shower in the middle of January. Her

Christmas Break - Day 2

Day 2 was fairly productive. It didn’t start off as early as day 1, thank goodness. I did manage to wash the floors upstairs and finished this quilt top!!

The gnome took me most of the day. It wasn’t hard, just time consuming.  I LOVE how it turned out. He is so cute!!

Here is an up close look at the gnome before I put the quilt top together. Check out that mistake in the bottom right hand corner. The one I didn’t notice until I had added all the borders. I took it apart and fixed it after a long debate with myself. No one will notice - leave it. Everyone will notice - fix it! I fixed it!!

I ran to Walmart last night to grab some spray to baste the quilt and found the cutest flannel sheets for the back. I’m going to quilt it today. If the reds match, I’m going to wrap the backing around the front for the binding. It they don’t match, I’m going to use the leftover green from the trees.

Here’s to a great day 3

Christmas Break - Day 1

Up way too early today. 4 am! Who wakes up at 4:00 am on their first day of holidays?!!!?! I did 😕 I figured I might as well do something productive and make myself a quilt.

I started the Scandinavian TOMTE quilt.

I figured I would just use fabric from my stash. I happened to find some wonderful Christmas fabric - greens and reds.  The trees were quick and easy to make. The gnome has taken hours to cut out alone and is going to take a while to put together!!

Craft cave on location two

 Good morning,

So I trusted the process and finished the Iris beanie.https://www.leftinknots.com/home/crochet-iris-beanie-free-pattern.  Safe to say it does not look as cute as the pic. I used a smaller hook, same weight of yarn and it looks gigantic, like might be loose on my head gigantic. I’ve never crocheted from the bottom up so that was strange.  It feels comfy and warm so that’s a win.  I want a faux fur Pom Pom for it so that might have to wait till I am more mobile.  Anyway, your morning laugh.... Craft cave on location

Hahaha. I bring you some sad efforts from the craft sofa.  For some reason I can’t comment on the last two posts, I don’t know what’s up with that. I would go blue for the word play quilt. Surprised? Have you ever made a toque from the bottom up?  I’m attempting one right now.  I feel like t might be an epic fail but I’m trying to trust the process.  Updates to come.

Back to crafting to help out Her

I threw together a craft for Her to share with her family. It did not take to long. I just had to remember to make the instructions as simple as possible.

Hopefully they enjoy doing them.

Quiet Play Pattern Club 2021

Well, I did it again!! I signed up for Quiet Play Pattern Club 2021!!

I love the idea of making each square using the rainbow idea and the white background is a must in my mind. Well, that is until I look at this royal blue background!!!  I do really like the grey accents more than the black for each block.

I also like this charcoal like background. So many choices!!!

I know I will be using a Grunge white or charcoal fabric for the background. I am going to look for a Grunge grey to make the accents with. Now, do I attempt the rainbow???  Or do I channel Her and just go for it scrappy style?!?!?!

So many decisions!!!  Good thing I have a month before the first square comes out.

This was the gift for signing up:

I can see this on the front of a pillow!!! I may have to put aside some marking and do some quilting!!

Happy Tuesday

Weekend Production

Hello ladies,

I love three day weekends. Love them! Love them!! That extra day makes such a difference. One day to be yourself and do whatever you choose without guilt.  Don’t want to clean, don’t! Don’t want to do laundry, don’t want to do homework, don’t want to wash the floors - don’t!! You have an extra day! Just enjoy it. That’s what I did.

Let me tell you about the Small Town Tour! TB and CS picked me up at Alameda corner on Saturday. We headed north to Carlyle. Checked out Michael’s Coffee Shop - had a London Fog and a cinnamon bun- yum!! Then checked out Kings, Fireside furniture store, the Bargan centre, and Home Hardware - best little home decor section ever! Then headed further north to Wawota to check out Front Porch Interiors. It’s a beautiful furniture store. Next up, we went east to Fairlight to check out the Tea House (great food and home decor). A little farther east to Maryfield to check out a cute little shop called Dusty Road Boutique. Then we raced south to Redvers to check out the cute little store there and had supper at the Optimist (in the old newspaper building). Them back to Carnduff and back to Alameda corner to drop me off. It was such an awesome day.

Sunday was my productive day. I put up my Christmas decorations, which included making a Christmas 🎄!! This is the middle of the door.

That’s what I thought I would use until I saw the sides put together. I grabbed a 2x4 to make the trunk and I had bought the other pieces for this project earlier in the month.

I think it turned out great.

Every Christmas 🎄 needs lights, so I added some!

I think it looks great. I’m going to add the middle door tree to this little collection. I need to figure out another trunk and stand for it.

I’m practicing making 5 point stars out of barn boards. The biggest problem is none of the boards are flat. They all have a slight curve. This one turned out pretty good.

One problem working with this wood is it cracks and falls apart. It’s really not that big of a problem. I just glue it back together.

I haven’t done much sewing these days. I made all the pieces for row 1 of the quilt I’m making for our master bedroom. All those 1/2 square triangles make my brain hurt. Slow and steady is how that quilt will be made. Can’t be distracted while making this quilt.

Back to the grind tomorrow,

Happy Monday

Scrappy tree number two

 Good afternoon ladies,

The quilt cave has been busy this weekend. I had sone green scraps from tree number one so I made a smaller wall hanging for our librarian.  She’s stressed about Covid restrictions and maybe not being able to see all her kids at Christmas so I made her a little pick me up.  I hope it brightens her day.  What’s up with you ladies? Her

Scrappy wall hanging

 Good afternoon ladies,

I wanted something holiday-ish for my classroom door.  Inspired by google images I created this scrappy Christmas/winter tree. While digging in the scrap bags gifted by Me I found a strip of winter patchwork perfect for the border.  Obviously, meant to be.  (One must listen when the scrap bag talks😀). I quilted some red garland on the tree, some windy meanders for snow, and voila, scrappy trees.   Her
