Felt stocking

I have been working on a felt stocking for the past couple of months and it is finally finished.

This is what it is suppose to look like.

 Some progress being made

The snowman got a head.

Here is the completed version

This picture shows the picture, the instructions sheet and the completed stocking.

This stocking was one of the simpler ones that I have done. It was fun to do.

My first teaching craft

I was asked to show some ladies how to make the some of the ornaments that I made with my friend.

Being the overly "organized" person that I am, I went with everything ready for them.

They each got all the materials they needed in bags, ready to go. That included all felt traced, ribbon, thread, beads and needles.

These are the ornaments that they got to make.

I think that it was a successful night. They have asked for some of the other patterns as well.

Paint project

I decided to paint some ornaments for a friend's birthday present.

I bought them like this.

Then I painted them.

Then I whitewashed them to tone the color down.

From the depths of the scrap bin.

Look what you can find in the scrap bin, forgotten squares become a baby quilt.

Clothespin snowflakes

This is what I started with, as well as my hot glue gun and white paint.

The first thing you have to do is pull all the clothespins apart.

Then you put the clothespins back to back and glue them. Then glued all the pairs to together.

Then you paint them. I then added a hanger.
I made some of these from medium-sized clothespins and they look good too.

More felt Christmas ornaments

A friend and I tackled more felt Christmas tree ornaments.

Here are the materials with started with. The patterned material on the left was taken from Her's scrap bin.

I completed these cute squirrels.
 My friend did these Rudolphs
 I made these sheep.
 My friend did these moose.
 I did these polar bears.
We had lots of fun I think we have enough to finally fill the tree.

Crafting adventure

Spent a few hours this past weekend, showing a friend how to make some felt ornaments for her tree.
These are the patterns that were used. The owl pattern could be found online, I had to make the other two myself.

I helped my friend get started and shemilie basically completed the foxes and penguins on her own. I did the owls because they involved a few different kinds of stitches.

Shimmering Triangles

I know you might think I'm crazy but I'm okay with that. I want to make this quilt.  Just the small version.  I looked at the pattern last night.  It's not so bad.  I think material selection will be the most difficult part of this entire quilt.

It calls for large print fabrics.  I'm not usually a fan of large print fabrics but I am going to give it a try!!!  Now to decide what colours to do it in!

What you are you all up to these days?
Happy Sunday

Another quilt for me to do ... Imagine that!!!!!

I'm obsessed with this quilt.  I can't wait to get started.  I've even finished a few tasks that I hate doing - I took out the garbage, did errands around town, swept/washed the floor (okay I turned the robot on)!!!  This is the version of the quilt that caught my eye:

I found it on Pinterest, which lead me to Pile O'Fabric Modern Sewing Blog!!! As I read the post, I discovered she used a jelly roll and made this into a wall hanging instead of a full size quilt.  I just happen to have a few jelly rolls and I think I might follow her lead and make a wall hanging instead of a full sized quilt.  So I played with some colours:

Since the quilt is called Super Nova, I thought I would search for some guidance.  Here's what I used:

An actual super nova!!!  I have a few more things, quilt things, to finish before I get to start this one.  Maybe I can do this in NB this summer just using scraps!!  No planning???  Not sure I can do that!!!!

One more sleep and it's the last day of school!!!!

New Quilting Book

It finally arrived!!!

I've quickly flipped through it ... Just looked at the pictures!!  I can't wait to do some reading tonight.  There's lots of tips inside this book for things like quilting and what type of designs to use.

I thought of you when I saw this one.  I know how you like a scrappy quilt.  I think this would look great with scraps and one solid.

This quilt is the reason why I wanted to buy this book!!  I have pinned a bunch of them on Pinterest.  I can't wait to try this one!!

There are a couple others in the book that I'm interested in too!!!

Happy last day with students!!
