Gift for The Crafter

  Good afternoon ladies,

Now that it’s been gifted to the Crafter, I can share a couple of pics of a wall hanging I made for her. Scrappy hearts on the front and free hand flowers on the back. Her

Idea for Me

  Good morning ladies,

I wanted to share this lovely quilt that looks like something Me should make.  It could be rainbow, two colours, Christmas, or many other ideas.  Just in case you didn’t have enough on the go. 😂 Her

Quiet Play 2021 Quilt Along

My goal is to get the squares made in the month that they come out in. So far, so good!!

January 2021’s quilt square is the Sparkler with a star border.

This is the first block, the sparkler! I am going with the dark background and am going to follow the rainbow guide! I do love a rainbow 🌈

I’ve collected most of the material. I am using scraps up! I have realized, I have a lot of Grunge fabric. I should have bought shares or the stock!!

I’m done 1/4 of the squares. I do really like the dark grey with the bright colours.

This square has the star border. The stars were the first thing I stitched for this block. It was really challenging for me to get the colours in the correct spot because the dark colour was Arwen in the white part of the paper and the white was stitched to the dark part of the paper. Lots of stitch ripping occurred!!

It’s going to be great when I get the middle done!

Due date: Feb 6th because the new pattern is released on the 7th!
I can’t believe January is almost over!!

Happy Friday

Progress made and another organized

I have made progress on my diamond dot.

I also organized another felt project, that my friend Carrie wants done. There is a couple changes that I am going to make because she doesn't want the other languages. Not sure just yet what those will be.

Strip quilt finish

  Good evening ladies,

I give you baby strip quilt.  I tried a different quilting pattern than normal, it’s a Baptist fan (singular).

It turned out okay but would probably be better on a rectangular quilt than a square.  I backed it with a flannel from the stash. It will be a good lay on the grass on cover a car seat quilt.  Her

Strip quilts forever!

 Good evening ladies,

Just wanted to share a work in progress, a strippy baby quilt.  It’s about 36 inches square-ish.  Utterly random 2.5 strips from a bag I had been throwing strips into.  The only logic was to try and have a bit of yellow every once in a while.  Still needs quilting, a back..... but it’s good to slowly be making my way back to creativity.  Her

Another diamond dot

 I started another diamond dot.

I work on 4 or 5 rows at a time, which takes can take an hour or more.

Unsuccessful project

So before Christmas my aunt gave me a kit to make a fabric bowl. I found the instructions to be very vague and it didn't turn out.

The outside wasn't flat. I told my aunt and she got a hold of the lady about the instructions, the lady said that there was a video on her website. Nowhere in my instructions did it say to view the video. Her website and Facebook page were listed but everyone puts that on things now, so I didn't think to look at them for further information.

Supposedly I am getting another kit. Maybe it will be more successful.

Return to the Quilt Cave

  Good evening ladies,

Sounds like a movie title to me... I ventured downstairs today. First time since I broke my leg.  It felt good to be creative again.  Not that I haven’t crocheted a bunch but I missed scrappy creativity.  I wanted a finished project so I made a wall hanging for my class door. It’s scrappy hearts appliqués on grey polka dot.  I put some mitten appliqué on the back. It’s colourful and scrappy, just like 4S. What have you ladies been up to?  Her

The End Is the New Beginning

Great title, eh!!?!?

Last January, I started this afghan when I was in Phoenix. I needed something to do while mom was packing and Mr Me was golfing. A quick trip to Walmart and I was set!

I love the colours and the pattern but feel like I’m never going to finish it. So, I’m repurposing it. Literally, taking it apart as I make it into a new project, that I actually hope to finish.

I have always loved granny squares. I love the idea of a scrappy granny square afghan. You know the ones with every colour of the rainbow in them. Maybe even different sizes of squares and thickness of yarn.

This all started when this showed up in my Pinterest feed:

It is a method that won’t add bulk to the seam!! I would share the link but it is a video and I’ll end up down a rabbit hole following other posts.

I found a granny square pattern that was easy to follow:

I’ve discovered that I like reading patterns that are written like this

Who knew?!?! I find them easier to understand than written instructions.

Here’s what I’ve made so far

I struggle to change colours. I think that will come with practice. I will have a while to think about this, what colour do I use to stitch them together?!?!? I’m off to make a few more squares and then to finish up a t-shirt quilt!

Happy Saturday

Not Very Productive Weekend

Hello ladies,

I had grand plans for this weekend but lost stream by about 4:30 Friday afternoon. I did start to make the Quiet Play 2021 Quilt Along this weekend. I didn’t make a square, instead a border. I just couldn’t focus. It was a challenge to get my mind wrapped around sewing the dark colour for the background. Those are white on the pattern pages for the paper piecing. Once I got my mind wrapped around that, I was able to see away.

My plan is to make the 2020 and 2021 at the same time. I’m going to make the background on both of them dark. I’m using Grunge dark grey for the 2021 quilt. Haven’t decided what I’m using for the 2020 quilt. Most likely will end up using Grunge dark grey or the white that I used for the 2019 version.

I keep seeing these puff quilts everywhere. They seem to be calling my name. Took some time to look into how to make one and have discovered, they aren’t too hard. I may have to add one to my todo list!! Here’s the tutorial I watched:  https://www.loandbeholdstitchery.com/blogs/lo-and-behold/ombre-puff-quilt-free-video-tutorial

Couch crafting continues2

 Good morning ladies,

Since I have nothing but time, I’m trying a new stitch out. It looks good so far but it’s very finicky.  I’m also sure I have enough yarn but I guess we’ll see what happens.😀 Her

Cast bootie

 Good morning ladies,

I give you my newest creation, a cast bootie.  Made of dishcloth yarn, it’s my newest accessory.  The toe looks a little odd, but it can fit some quilt batting. In it to keep my toes warm. What have you ladies been working on? Her
