A Little Saturday Sewing

Hello ladies!
We woke up to a skiff of snow this morning. It was one of those bright sunny days that you know is deceiving - it should be beautiful and warm but it’s not!! I was up unusually early this morning, 4 am to be exact. Why? I have no idea!! So, I’ve been productive. Check out these finished squares:

Only a few more to go!

I am trying to randomly pick the what colours to add. Here’s my strategy.

Pick from the bag!

Iron, cut and toss into the bucket.

It seems to be working!! I’m excited to see how this is going to turn out.
Happy Saturday

Denim throw finish

 Good everything ladies,

My latest finish is this denim strip quilt that I shared a pic of already. I pieced a back, made some Franken-batting and did some stitch in the ditch and diagonal quilting on.  Not sure who it’s going to yet so I’ll put it in the gift stash.  Her

Adulting on a Wednesday and some Sewing

Not sure what has gotten into me. I did laundry tonight. Actually washed, dried, hung up and put away! Must be a new moon.
I made more blocks!

Our school mascot is a bull dog and I happened to find a pattern to make one.

It is an interesting pattern. The pattern is printed on actual paper piecing paper. Never used that before. Should be interesting. This is my Easter break project.

Happy one day closer to the weekend.

The weekend is over already!

I’ve spent the last three days doing some sewing here and there. I finished March’s block for the Quiet Play Pattern Club 2021 and sewed the first row together.

I need a different place to take pictures. The other quilt can be distracting.

Here’s a quilt I made a couple of years ago. It was a grad gift from a dad for his daughter. It is made out of pj pants that the kids game home for Christmas.

Their son graduates this year and I have the privilege of making him a quilt, too. I have some of the squares from the pj pants that I used in the first quilt and have new pj pants to add into this years quilt. The difference is their daughter is 5 foot 5 ish and their son is 6 foot 5 at least. I think I’m going to re-create this quilt and add in a few extra rows with the new pj pants. This quilt will be king size in length and twin in width!!

I love this quilt pattern, Eidos by The Modern Quilt Guild.

I started to make the blocks but didn’t get too far. I tucked it away and haven’t pulled it out in a while. I pulled it out today! I’ve made blocks A and E. I started out making all A blocks one colour and B blocks another. Then I changed my mind and thought I’ll just make it scrappy!! Now I’m not sure I did the right thing.  What do you think? Should I have stuck with the same colour for each block or can I continue with the scrappy look?

I saw this while I was on a zoom call and thought it was cute. I think I’m going to make one like this.

My Aunt Deb L asked me to finish this quilt that her grandma had started. With a little help from Her, we decided the layout.

I’m going to add red or blue sashes in between the rows. I have enough red material to add a border, too. If I felt really ambitious, I could use the flowered and make a few more squares.

I made a foot stool for outside, too, but I haven’t taken pictures of it. It’s an old wooden spool that I painted a nice bright teal colour.

Hope you both had a great weekend.
Happy Sunday

PS. Our new furniture arrived today. One of the chairs came without legs. We are happy with it but are a little concerned about the material. It seems to be velcro like. I think it’s from the packaging. Lots of static. Doesn’t help that our house is dry right now.

Work in progress

Spring flowers

 Good evening ladies,

I give you two mini quilts that are flower inspired. The tulip is for my class door in April and the pansy is for Sharen for Easter. They are made from denim and scraps.  Her

A little Thursday night sewing!

One-sixth of March’s square done!!

This one actually stitched up fairly quickly. Finding the scraps is what’s taking the most time. I need to find something that can sit on my table and house my scrap pieces in a colour coded scheme!!

We don’t have to work tomorrow. It’s our day off in leu of interviews, which don’t happen until the end of April. Makes sense 🤷🏻‍♀️. I’m going to work at finishing this square and starting another t-shirt quilt or maybe a pj bottom quilt. Who knows what I will do!!

Happy Thursday

Denim throw

 Good morning ladies,

Last night I worked on a small(42*55) denim quilt with strips leftover from Sharen’s quilt.  I was loosely inspired by Gudrun’s quilt I had seen last year.  I used some leftover flannel from Me. I don’t know if I have enough scraps to make a back, I guess i’ll Figure that out today. Het

Sharen’s quilt is done!

 Good evening ladies,

It’s done, a whole month early! Sharen’s denim beach quilt is denim strips with a pieced canvas-like back. I quilted in the ditch every other strip and through the middle of each strip. It’s about 48 by 60, perfect for the beach.

A Pinterest spring project

I wanted something new for spring for my balcony. I also wanted something that was easy and not that expensive.

Some dollar tree supplies and some glue.

The most challenging part was figuring out how to trace.

Paint them white and add color. Then light white coat over top.

The first one is two sizes of petals.
The second one is all the same size petals.

A Saturday of Sewing

I spent most of the day sewing and doing laundry. I did get most of the laundry done. It’s almost never ending like sewing.

I started Quiet Play Pattern Club 2020 blocks.

I got one and a half done! Doesn’t sound like much but paper piecing takes some time.

I am enjoying using the rainbow to complete the squares. I don’t have enough yellow fabric to finish the 2020 and 2021 version. I’m going to use the yellow fabric I do have to complete the 2021 version.

This little cloud and rain drops is so cute. 4 more rain drops to go to finish this one.

Hope you both had a great Saturday!
