Rage pruning

 Good afternoon,
So my machine is being a jerk with tension problems so I rage pruned my arbor today.  Kind of looks like a kid whose mom gave him a quarantine haircut.

Scrappy blocks

Good afternoon ladies,
Some scrappy blocks from yesterday. I really enjoy the simplicity of making scrappy blocks for some future project.

Quilt idea

 Happy Friday ladies,
I've seen this quilt (the Elvira quilt) in a few blogs.  I think I might have to try something like it.
What are you ladies wanting to work on?

Project in progress

So I may do some other small projects, but this is the big project underway. My aunt sent this to me to do. I have done a few different stockings over the years.

Simple modern baby quilt

.
Good afternoon ladies.  A week ago I showed you a simple block that I thought was going to look one way when I laid it out.  When I did I didn't like it so I went with plan b (as I am known to do). It's a sweet simple quilt for a little girl.  I did some stitch in the ditch quilting and a little wave-ish quilting ( not very wavy because I can't meander any more) for some detail.

Still Knitting

So, we did nothing today but finish watching Season 1 and 2 of Jack Ryan. That’s it. Totally lost an entire day!

This gave me lots of time to knit. I did make a mistake, ripped 2 rows out and redid them. Only the 4th or 5th time I’ve had to do that 🤬
252 rows of 380 ✅

This feels like a never ending project. However, I am getting even tension!!

Happy Saturday

PS. Off to read

New Sneddonia

 Good morning,
I've really been missing my classroom, aka Sneddonia, lately.  I told my kids that I was coming to them from New Sneddonia in my first video I sent them.  Our classes all have their name above the door so I had to re-create that for New Sneddonia( aka the love seat).  I made a banner for New Sneddonia from an old pillowcase and some random scraps I found in a bag downstairs.  Green 4S ( school colours) , a chevron ( that means protection and home-according to the ancient art of heraldry) and white and grey stitching of more chevrons.  I'm thinking I will have my students make a banner for their new learning towns. I will tack it up in my new class country.  Making this made me smile, what's making you ladies smile?

New things

So today I thought I'd try new things. So first, I repurposed an old pair of Andy's jean into a denim beach bag. I made it taller rather than wide so a towel could be rolled up and tucked to the side. I hate it when my towel ends up on the bottom of the bag and I have to dump my bag to get to the towel. I thought about lining it but I decided not to so it could just go directly in the wash if needed.

I made a double inside pocket( a pocket made out of a pocket).

New thing number two. I made a potato, cheddar, ham frittata today. I don't think I've ever made one before, it's not difficult, I just normally scramble eggs. I'm exhausted 😂

Straight Line Quilting

I really do like straight line quilting, not just because I can’t meander with my sewing machine at this time.

I did the background in 6 inch thick lines going eat-west. I should have done them on the diagonal.  There are so many seems that you can’t see these lines at all.  I quilted the snowflake with 2 inch wide lines but you couldn’t really see it.

Then I quilted it more. This time I made the lines in the snowflake 1 inch apart.

It looks a little better.
Do you think I need to add more east - west line???

Happy Tuesday

New block

Scrap inspiration

Good morning,
So I came acrosss this picture when I was looking for inspiration.  I was thinking it could be a great idea for a memory quilt with the shirt scraps being the lightning slashes.  I also read a comment where someone was going to make the squares out of old jeans and shirts.  If I was the type of quilter who make jean quilts with squares that would look pretty awesome I bet.  Just a pre-coffee idea.  Her

Toques of Lent

 Happy Easter ladies,
I'm happy to say that I made my goal of 40 toques for 40 days of Lent.  There's actually 44 in the picture. I'll probably continue making them ( I only made twenty last year). There's something soothing about the repetitive action of making a pattern you don't need to think about.  Shockingly I still haven't used up all the yarn in my house.😂 Her

Easter bonnet reveal

Happy Thursday!
So the bonnet/fascinate was a hit and we had great staff participation with the challenge. I was so bored of  wearing sweatpants I put on a dress to go with the fascinator. I guess this was my dressing up for Easter.
Time for Easter Break!

Easter bonnet

 Good morning,
So yesterday our Speech Path threw out a challenge for our teams meeting on Thursday, wear your best Easter bonnet.  Of course, I had to create something. I found some weird pink satin in my scrap bag from Julie, trolled through Pinterest, and came up with a plan. I made a version of peonies, they sort of look like peonies,  cut up a paper plate, and sewed the flowers to the plate. It's very British.
Stay tuned for a pic of me wearing it tomorrow.

Knitting Progress

I haven’t been up to much quilting lately because my table has become my desk since my office is under construction!!

193 rows of 380 done ✅

I found this quilt the other day and I think this will become our new quilt for the master bedroom!!

I started to draw the pattern out and decided to look for it. $15 download, yes please!! There is a set of acrylic templates that I could get. I thought I would get another new ruler but templates will have to do. What colours do you think I should go with??

Today, I am going to attempt teaching online even though I don’t have access to everything - casual employee 👎🏻

Happy Monday

Plan E success

  Good morning,
So plan e mostly worked out.  The blue border is pretty skinny but that was all I had left.  I like it.
Of course, I made more toques.
Not sure what else I'll get into today. First, I must drink more coffee.☕️

Pinterest semi fail

So I attempted a Pinterest project and it didn't turn out great.

He even has a puffy tail

I would try it again with a few adjustments.
Today was a puzzle day, not quite finished it.

Plan E?

So I have been challenging myself to make my seams line up better, ( still not pinning cause that's crazy talk). In that light I've been using the Bargello tube method, which is helping. I picked some grey polka dots ( polka dots make everything awesome) and some blue print and started sewing away. I was making sections and had three done when I hit the snag. The pile of blue that I had estimated had enough for my plan had a diff colour mixed in I hadn't noticed previously. It was two late to go back and make it a three colour thing so this is what I have.
So plan e involves a skinny border of the blue material ( I think I have enough), and then a bigger border of polka dots.  Will this mistake/opportunity convince me to plan ahead better? Probably not.
Of course, I did a couple of toques as well.
Stay safe stay sane-ish ( my new ending for all things including work emails),

Quilt magic completed

Here is the first of two Spring quilt magic that I have to do.

The kit includes all the material needed, a foam board and many paper pieces to cut out.

90 pieces later I am ready to get started.

The easiest piece to do is the back piece.

The completed project.
