Two posts in one day. This was a little simpler than the other one.

Here is my first contribution to the blog. The button tree.
STEP 1: Background top. This was done with a lot of sponge painting and wiping.

 STEP 2: Background bottom. This took a lot of layering of colors

 STEP 3: Tree drawn in. This was done from white carbon paper

 STEP 4: Outline tree in black paint

 STEP 5: Paint the tree. It took many layers to get the tree to this point.

 STEP 6: Glue on buttons. The project is complete

I made the first of 36 cows for Penny's 6 Cow quilts.

I think I am going to quilt as I go.  I've read a bunch of tutorials ... By a bunch I mean 2!!  I think it will be easier thank making the quilt and quilting it!!  This is the tutorial that I am going to use:  http://maureencracknellhandmade.blogspot.ca/2012/10/a-quilt-as-you-go-tutorial.html

I'll be able to quilt the bodies in different ways.  I thinkI'll quilt the bodies a lot and the but not so much in the background.  I'm not really sure. Maybe I should quilt the background more and just stitch in the ditch around the cow and inside the star.  HELP!!!  What do you think???

Channelling the Crafter

So I'm trying something new. I'm trying to create rustic painted mason jars with tissue flowers for my Mere's big birthday extravaganza this weekend.  Of course, it was a gong show getting the chalk paint I needed.  So here's the start. They have two coats of paint, I hope that's going to be enough. I froze my butt off painting them outside tonight and have them drying in front of the fireplace.  I'll update you on the progress. Self Binding Blankets

I'm so glad you made me learn how to do this!!  I made 4 of them today.  All rectangular blankets!!

I did figure out a little trick.  Sew along the sides right to the 1/4 in mark and then start the next side in the same spot that you finished the first side.  I'll try to take some pictures to show you when I make one tomorrow!!!

I like how this fancy stitch turned out!  Might need to use it again!!

I need to hem the bridesmaid dress and alter my bathing suit tomorrow before I make more of these blankets!!
