Beaded medallion part one

 Good evening ladies,

 I wanted to share a couple pics of a medallion in progress. Do I know how to make a medallion? Not quite yet but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. Her

Sunspots Quilt

When I ordered the material for this quilt, the colours on the computer screen and what they were when they arrived weren’t exactly the same.  I thought I was getting 2 pinks. What I got as a deep pinkish colour and a stale reddish colour.

 It took me a while to start to cut into this material for this quilt. 

The pattern designer used two peachy colours and it looked good so I figured I would just go with it!! 

I made 4 squares for the top row so far. I wanted to see what a sunspot was going to look like.

January Finish

Mom bought me this quilt as a quilt along in 2007/2008 when I was in Taiwan. She got it from the Quilt Patch in Moose Jaw. The top has been done for a few years!! I decided in December to get it done. I quilted it and just needed to out the binding in this month. Technically, the snowman heads are suppose to have buttons for eyes but I’m not sure I’m going to put them on. 

I love rounded corners! I think that’s how 90% of my quilts will be finished from here on. 

I found a buffalo plaid set of sheets on Amazon. I think this was the last of it. I’ve used the fitted sheet, flat sheet and both pillow cases. These are the stiffest sheets I’ve ever used. I had to wash the quilt so I could fold it. 

This quilt needed a little patch! 

The seams are starting to fraying and the quilting is breaking. We’ve taken this quilt everywhere when we are camping. It is one of my favourites. 

I’m struggling to find nice batting. The last roll I bought is so thin. There’s nothing to the quilts. They are so thin. Might need to start putting flannel on the back!

Grain - Sack Pillows

 We’ve collected feed sacks and grain sacks for a few years. Found them in antique shops during our summer holidays. I used them as curtains in our apartment and now have started to make pillows out of them. Here are the newest 5:

I had left over pillows from a memory project and figured this was the best way to use them!!

2024 Wrap Up

I haven’t done a great job at keeping up with the blog over this past year. Here’s what I got done: 

The Estevan Exhibition Association and West Coast Amusement give each other a gift at the end of the fair. I was asked to make a quilt for the EEA to gift to West Coast Amusement. I used their colours to create the custom quilt. I didn’t get a great picture of the quilt. I seem to be slacking when it comes to taking pictures and labeling quilts. 

I was asked to make a grad gift for the end of June. The 4 corners of the quilt are made of her Mom and Dad’s clothing and everything else is the graduates. She loved it!

These are socks - Jawsome Dad socks!! They were a lot more work than they should have been!! The background is her dad’s shirt from the military. 

Baby blankets were incorporated to the front and used on the back.

Whole Cloth Quilts - these are quickly becoming one of my favourite quilt to make for baby gifts. While quilting it, I ran out of bobbin thread - my machine doesn’t warn me anymore!!

 

I started this one years ago! I pulled it out to finish it off! I added 2 - 3 rows then called it quits! 

I think it needs a bright back to finish it off!!

This is the first time I’ve made a pattern twice. I put the fat quarter pack in my shopping cart about a year ago and finally ordered it in September. 

It’s busy but I like it!!

This is the last quilt I made in 2024. It is for Trina. She needs a car/hockey quilt. I’ve struggled to find material for her. When I saw this, it screamed Trina!!

I quilted it with straight lines. 1/2 inch, 1 inch, 1.5 inches and 2 inches away from the seam lines. I didn’t use them all from each seam to give it some variety.

Goals for 2025:

1. No new patterns, kits, or material I like until July.

2. Finish one quilt each month - I have many many quilt tops in the closet

3. Blog more often!
