The End Is the New Beginning

Great title, eh!!?!?

Last January, I started this afghan when I was in Phoenix. I needed something to do while mom was packing and Mr Me was golfing. A quick trip to Walmart and I was set!

I love the colours and the pattern but feel like I’m never going to finish it. So, I’m repurposing it. Literally, taking it apart as I make it into a new project, that I actually hope to finish.

I have always loved granny squares. I love the idea of a scrappy granny square afghan. You know the ones with every colour of the rainbow in them. Maybe even different sizes of squares and thickness of yarn.

This all started when this showed up in my Pinterest feed:

It is a method that won’t add bulk to the seam!! I would share the link but it is a video and I’ll end up down a rabbit hole following other posts.

I found a granny square pattern that was easy to follow:

I’ve discovered that I like reading patterns that are written like this

Who knew?!?! I find them easier to understand than written instructions.

Here’s what I’ve made so far

I struggle to change colours. I think that will come with practice. I will have a while to think about this, what colour do I use to stitch them together?!?!? I’m off to make a few more squares and then to finish up a t-shirt quilt!

Not Very Productive Weekend

Hello ladies,

I had grand plans for this weekend but lost stream by about 4:30 Friday afternoon. I did start to make the Quiet Play 2021 Quilt Along this weekend. I didn’t make a square, instead a border. I just couldn’t focus. It was a challenge to get my mind wrapped around sewing the dark colour for the background. Those are white on the pattern pages for the paper piecing. Once I got my mind wrapped around that, I was able to see away.

My plan is to make the 2020 and 2021 at the same time. I’m going to make the background on both of them dark. I’m using Grunge dark grey for the 2021 quilt. Haven’t decided what I’m using for the 2020 quilt. Most likely will end up using Grunge dark grey or the white that I used for the 2019 version.

I keep seeing these puff quilts everywhere. They seem to be calling my name. Took some time to look into how to make one and have discovered, they aren’t too hard. I may have to add one to my todo list!! Here’s the tutorial I watched:  https://www.loandbeholdstitchery.com/blogs/lo-and-behold/ombre-puff-quilt-free-video-tutorial

Couch crafting continues2

 Good morning ladies,

Since I have nothing but time, I’m trying a new stitch out. It looks good so far but it’s very finicky.  I’m also sure I have enough yarn but I guess we’ll see what happens.😀 Her

Cast bootie

 Good morning ladies,

I give you my newest creation, a cast bootie.  Made of dishcloth yarn, it’s my newest accessory.  The toe looks a little odd, but it can fit some quilt batting. In it to keep my toes warm. What have you ladies been working on? Her
