The Original Chunky Evergreen Throw

 Hey all,

February 8th and it was +9C here today!! 

This weather is so odd this winter. 

I finished this throw last night! The pattern is by Hook and Fibre Made and is called the Original Chunky Evergreen Throw.  Once I figured out the pattern, this throw worked up fairly quickly. 

I think I missed the last stitch somewhere in that dark green row. 

The yarn is so soft. It is Yarnspirations Bernat Blanket Perfect Phasing in the colour forest green. 

I’ve started another throw! The pattern is called The Chunky Wave Throw and is by Hook and Fibre Made, too! You can see the wave starting already - only on the second row!

The pattern used Woolease - Thick & Quick but it is not in production anymore. I decided to use RE-SPUN Thick & Quick instead. It is soft but hairy!! 

I hope this pattern is as easy as the last! I have a lot of Olympics to watch!!

First finish of 2026

 Good afternoon ladies,

Here’s my first finish this year. Admittedly, it was mostly done over break but I stalled out at the binding. No destination yet, it might go into the retirement gift pile. What have you been up to? Her

Tunisian Crochet Afghan

 I have no idea when I started this afghan but that doesn’t matter because it is done!! I did enjoy Tunisian crocheting for this one. I also love the colours in it. 

I wasn’t 100% sure how to finish the edges so I single crocheted around once, then added 2 rounds of double crochet and finished it off with one round of single crocheting. 

Honestly, I was just trying to use up all the yarn I had!!

Blue Jean Christmas Stockings

I was experimenting with the idea of making a Christmas stocking out of an old pair of jeans. I whipped these up - did not finish the inside because I was just experimenting. I had saw a few stockings made with the back pocket as the main part of the front of the stocking. I wanted to give it a try!

                                                    

I had some left over buffalo plaid to put on the back for both of the stockings. 

This one is made out of the pant leg.

They looked pretty good hung up. I think I will add some greenery and some ribbons to them next year and may hand them on the front door!

I shared them on Facebook and before I knew it, I was making 9 more stocking for a friend of mine. She is a fellow barrel racer. She asked if I needed jeans to make them and I said sure! She dropped off  just enough pairs of jeans so I could make them all using her jeans. 

As I started to make them, I soon discovered that I wasn’t going to be able to make them with the back pockets on them. Her pants legs were too small!! I change directions and decided to make them stripped instead.

I did the quilting as a sewed the stockings together. 

I tried to make the all a little different but the same! The back of the stocking is similar to the front. I didn’t have enough of her blue jeans to make the back so I added a chunk of the jean material I had left over from the Patchwork Flying Geese quilt. 

The inside of the stocking was either more buffalo plaid or a combination of red material with the buffalo plaid. I wanted the cuff of the stocking to be buffalo plaid so they could be turned over.

To finish off the stockings, I added each initial to the front of the stockings. 

I am always worried when I make things for people that they won’t like what I’ve done or they thought they would turn out different. I wasn’t able to deliver these directly and had to wait to hear what they thought of them.  This is the message I received: 

“Omg. These stockings are above and beyond. You did a superb job with them. So much work and craftsmanship went into them. Thank you so much.”

Then I received a video on Christmas Day that showed them all hung on the fireplace and a message that said “They were a hit! Thank you again”.

 They looked fantastic with her decorations!!

I love making things like this for people!!

A Little Lego

 I had Mr. Her order me a Lego set for Halloween! It turned out even better than I imagined it would!!

I ordered the light kit from BrickBling! Needless to say: It did not disappoint!! 

Look at how cute that is!! 

Mr. Her tossed in a couple of ghost builds for me to add to my Halloween display.

I have a few more build to complete. I’ve been saving them for a Lego date with a few ladies down here!

Patchwork Flying Geese Quilt

I was taking a peek at Pinterest one day and stumbled upon the Patchwork Flying Geese Quilt by Quilty Love. 

I loved the random scrappy look of this quilt - this is a look that really challenges me!! 

I can’t remember where I bought this material but I do love it!! I started it when I visited the quilt cave in the summer. It proved to be more difficult to get the colours spread out than it should have.

After getting the top somewhat figured out, we took a trip to Fabricland to by the backing. We decided on a blue jean material for the back!!

In November, I decided to finish this quilt!! I have started to lay out quilts on the island in our kitchen. With a little assistance from canned items and the peanut butter, I was able to get the quilt layers put together!

A girl’s got to use whatever she has on hand!!

After a little straight- line quilting, the quilt is done!

I added a few rows of fancy stitches here and there! I hope these stitches will help keep the fabric from fraying. I forgot how much linen fabrics fray as they are being cut and sewed back together.

This quilt is warm and is already a household favourite!!

June Finish

I’m just a little late posting this one!! 

A couple years ago, a friend’s partner reached out and asked if I could fix an antique set of boxing gloves. They belonged to his great grandfather!! Each time I thought I had things figured out to keep them together, the leather would rip or the old threads would giveaway. Needless to say, it took me two years to finish them. I didn’t want to do a half-ass job and google didn’t help. 

As you can see, my stitches don’t look pretty. It was the only way I could get them to stay together! 

They are being hung in a sports themed entertaining space in their home  They tell me people have commented on how old they are and that’s it’s awesome to see history hung up. They are a talking point and have had some stories told about them after a few too many drinks!!

Advent box

 I ordered myself an Advent box from the company where I get my paint by numbers.

This is how the box came, very nice looking.

DAY 5 - this one confused me, I had to use Google to help me figure out what it was.

DAY 8 -  is magnets and some kind of stickers, this one confused me.

DAY 9 - A roll of heart stickers, not sure what they have to do with painting.

DAY 10 - a brush cleaner dish

DAY 11 - paint by number bottles of rose. I will have to see how these turn out and then find people to give them to. 

DAY 12 - Two 4 foot long paint by number banners.

These will be a challenge to paint because they are the length of my table.

This was neat to open up, but it would have been nice to have an explanation inside some of the boxes. 😆
