Scrappy Strata two

Good morning ladies,
With it being nine hundred degrees in my house I headed to the quilt cave.  I give you strata two. I added a couple rows top and bottom to make it a little longer.  It still needs ironing but it’s pretty cute. I might even venture out to find backing today.
Hope you’re staying cool.  Her

More wings done

I finished up the angel wings for my Grandma while enjoying the nice breeze off the lake.

Scrappy Finish

Good sweltering afternoon ladies,
I finished this a couple of days ago but forgot to blog about it.  Scrappy crumb quilt is finished! It’s asymmetrical but still fabulous.  I tried something new when quilting, Baptist fans
I like the way it looks and will probably try them again.
The turquoise backing is thicker, like a canvas, and is a fun diamond pattern.  I think this will go in my need a quilt as a gift pile.

Scrap vortex

Good evening ladies,
I feel like the scrap vortex quilt (originally from Crazy mom quilts) might be in my future.
It’s just millions of scrap blocks sewn together. I can do that.

Quilt Cave is on fire! (Figuratively of course)

Good evening,
There has been a high level of productivity happening in the quilt cave recently.  Not only did I finish the Scrappy Strata, today we finished the heaviest jean top ever for Myrna.  The star was already made and with Me's math and spatial logistical skills( and rotary cutter skills) and Her's ability to sew this awesome top is finished!!! It's huge, fabulous, and beautiful.  Thanks Me ! Crafter, you probably should expect a call for assistance from Her when it's time to lay the monster out.  Great job ladies!
I know the pic is small but Blogger is being uncooperative right now.

Finally completed

Well I have finished my first diamond painting, I have one more to do. But I think a break is needed. Now to figure out how to frame it.

Production in the Quilt Cave

It’s always great to visit Her and Mr. Her! We seem to get a lot done while we are in the quilt cave. I was able to start and finish the top of another t-shirt quilt.

This one has been in the closet for a while, a long while. I really like how the sashing and borders finish this quilt. Her came up with the idea of doing wonky stars in the four corners. They look super cute because they are made from a Woody pillow case. I was able to center a Woody character in each star. The light border is a flannel sheet that came with the t-shirts.

After finishing the top, I wanted to do a scrappy Christmas quilt for myself but decided to wait. Instead I tried Quiet Plays’s Blossom block tutorial. This is how my square turned out:

There something wrong with it. This is what it’s suppose to look like:

I’m going to search for the stitch ripper and do it it!!

Happy Friday

Scrappy Strata Finish

Good morning ladies,
After a marathon day in the quilt cave Scrappy Strata is finished! It’s backed with soft denim yardage and is super heavy.  I love it!

Happiness is a scrappy quilt.

Sunday One Hour Challenge

What can I do in an hour??

Finish quilting a quilt and got the binding put on!!

Stitch in the ditch for the quilting. I think that is the only way to quilt T-Shirt quilts that are done this way!! And as always - the fuzzy back!!!

Then I was able to trim the second t-shirt quilt and get it sprayed down to the batting!!

Next up, I need to trim the batting, add the back (another fuzzy one), quilt it and get the binding done!!

Happy 1 hour challenge!!

Sunday. Challenge

What can you do in an hour?  Sew together three rows and attach to the partial quilt, if you’re a procrastinator like me.
The yellow is how I tthinki’ll quilt it. I’m calling asymmetrical quarter crumb cabin.  I also cut into the scrap pink bag I have from all the girl guilts I did. I’m probably good for baby quilts for a while so into the strata they will go.
What about you Me?

Scrappy Strata Squirrel

Good evening ladies,
So after locking myself out of Blogger i’m back. The Sneddon version of strata has started. I used two inch strips and my center a rectangle but it’s the basic same idea.
Some strips to start it off. I need to be a little more ruthless and cut some scrap bits that i’m Saving for some reason. Here’s a pic of the started piece.

Plan C scrappy

Good evening ladies,
So I thought I had saved my inspiration pic for the scrap blocks I've been making but apparently not. I know you're shocked. After a couple of failed layouts I found this inspiration picture.
So here's the start of my version, it's going to be off-centred because I'm only going 6 blocks across but I'm pretending it's supposed to be that way( let's call it modern asymmetry).

Scrappy blocks

Greetings ladies,
My sunburnt shoulders have told me it's time for a break from scrappy central.  I put blue sashing on 10 scrap blocks and made 20 more 6.5 scrap blocks. I think it will be 6x8 blocks for a nice throw size.  Of course, I don't have a hard and fast plan yet. Also, my scrap pile doesn't seem any smaller, how does that happen?  Her

Copy of previous project

So I made Her some angel wings back at the beginning of all the chaos. Someone showed my Grandma them on Facebook, she asked if I could make her some.
She gives something little at Christmas to her table mates. We made snowman candy purses last year.

This is her version, step one. They will all get sequins and be slightly stuffed, just like I did for Her.
This is a nice break for me from my diamond painting.
