Hey there ...
I can't believe that we are a week away from summer holidays!!! I had two final exams today, one tomorrow, the last one on Monday, then a grading day on Tuesday, grad Wednesday, Thursday the SRC is serving lunch to the entire staff and Friday at 1:30 we are free!!! Yippee ... I'm sure I can make it to the end now!!!
I attempted to make another riding helmet cover! This one I made with some spandex material, which is way better to work with than the jersey knit material that I used before! The jersey knit just kept growing and growing and growing!!!
This one turned out pretty good! A little sloppy on the side showing in the picture above this but overall, I would say that this was a success. The people that I made these hats for are going to collect some more spandex so I can make some more to match the fancy outfits that the little girls wear!! I wonder how many of these I would have to make to be able to quit my job!! LOL!!!
Three weeks ago, I ordered some wooden crates from Joann's online ... got free shipping ... yeah!!! I am planning on making a TV/entertainment center of them. When I picked up the boxes in Noonan, it felt like Christmas b/c I ended up with 5 boxes of stuff!! Three boxes of crates, some material and a few odds and ends!! I was worried that the crates were going to be too small when I first opened the box.
But once I got them out, I discovered that they were the perfect size!!!
I'm going to try to make something like this stand that I saw on the
Hammers and High Heels blog. On my Friday off, I stained all 9 crates. It took me about 3 hours to get them all done. Here's what they look like now:
I'm so excited to get these finished and set up. I still haven't convinced Dallas that we don't need 2 TVs in the living room but I'm not giving up. So the next time you come, you won't have to look at this:
You can see all the extra boxes and stuff on the floor down in front. Dallas is cleaning like a mad man. I told him he had until my last day of school to get it done or I was going to do it for him. I promised that I wouldn't throw anything out, that I would just pack it all and we could move it out. So the next time you visit, there will be a real bed for you in the bed room!!! WOOT WOOT!!!
I have been looking for some guidance on what to do lately. I've done a tone of reading, done some quizzes, looking into changing jobs and a anything else I can think of .... Finally I found some guidance, something I can follow and that will make me happy!!! I made myself a sign so I can remember just what I need to do! I put it in the bathroom so I make sure to see it everyday!!!
I don't have much to show when it comes to sewing projects. I've had this material for a long time. I made myself a little table runner out of it a couple of years ago. Last week, I pulled it out and did some thinking about what I should make. I decided to try to make a table runner for a shower gift. It turned out really good!
I did a "google" search for things to do with jelly rolls. I stumbled upon the Braided quilt pattern. It was perfect!!! Here's how it turned out:
Here's a close up of the one end. I don't like that picture ... I gotta work at taking pictures!
I quilted the table runner with an allover meandering pattern. On the light fabric, I used a cream thread:
I used a black thread on the darker fabric:
I wasn't sure if the black and cream threads would look good but in the end, I think it really turned out well!!! I am very happy with it. I wrapped it up and am ready to give it away tomorrow night!!!
Did you notice that I took the pictures on our new table?!?!?! Its old and in need of some loving!! I'm pretty excited about it. Now I'm searching for chairs to go with it!
I'm in the process of making a cute plaid baby quilt for a fellow teacher. She's having a baby boy!!! I'm pretty excited b/c I've designed this quilt and I think its going to be so cute! I am personalizing it by putting the baby's name on it!!! I'll post pictures after the baby is born and named!!!
Other works in progress right now:
1. The light and dark off center quilt - 4 rows sewn together. This one is time consuming b/c I don't want to screw up!!!
2. Cor's
3. Kelly's
4. Tiff's
5. Purse - I'm making a purse for a grad present!! It's in purple and zebra ... I hope it turns out well!!!
I'm sure there is more but that's all I can think of right now!!!
Happy Thursday .... one more day until the weekend!!!
